  • Insurance

    IRFU Compulsory Insurance Scheme

The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) have a limited, compulsory insurance scheme in place covering all club members while active in rugby in Ireland. It provides fixed benefits for death or catastrophic injury following accidents incurred while playing or officially training for rugby. Further information about the IRFU policy can be found here.

    Additional Personal Accident Cover

IMPORTANT: The IRFU Compulsory Insurance Scheme does not cover ongoing loss of earnings, fatal collapse (unless caused by accident), medical expenses or illness. As every member/rugby player has different rugby insurance needs, it is the responsibility of each individual to ensure they are adequately covered in accordance with their own specific requirements in the event that they sustain an injury while participating in club activities. Cover can be arranged directly through any insurance broker or via the links provided at the IRFU insurance page.

For secondary school students, some schools include all of their students under a personal accident scheme by default (24/7 cover for 365 days a year). Parents should check with their school to check if that cover is in place or arrange alternative personal accident cover.

For primary school pupils, schools may offer similar default cover. Parents should check with their school to check if that cover is in place or arrange alternative personal accident cover.

It is the player's or parent's individual responsibility to ensure that they have adequate insurance in place.

    Medical Expense Policy

As stated above, the IRFU insurance scheme does not cover medical expenses. The Club policy on the payment of medical expenses is as follows:

In the event of an individual requiring medical attention for an injury incurred while training or playing, and the outlay is not recoverable elsewhere, the club will pay for admission to hospital or a visit to a doctor. Payment for return visits will be the responsibility of the individual. Players are liable for all other medical expenses, and any other expenses, not covered by the club policy. Reimbursement will only be made following provision of a formal invoice or receipt to the Hon Treasurer.

  • Match Tickets

For home Six Nations matches, the club receives an allocation of match tickets to buy. The number of tickets made available to the club is dependent on what league divisions the men and women's team are playing in, the number of referees in the club and other factors.

The allocation of rights to buy tickets is managed by the General Committe. There is always greater demand than supply for match tickets. The Committee endeavours to allocate tickets to different groups within the club, including trustees, club officers, committee members, coaches, players and members in as fair and equitable manner as possible.

Notifications to members about the availability of tickets are distributed using group emails in SportsLomo / RugbyConnect.

  • Club House & Bar Hire

  • The club house and bar are available to hire for social gatherings and parties for club members (excluding 18th birthday parties).

Up to 150 people can be accomodated at the clubhouse.

Enquiries can be made by sending a text message to the bar phone (087 4850037) or emailing newrossrugby.reservations@gmail.com and we will respond to your message as soon as possible.
